The resulting PDF contained 5 measures per line - not the desired 8. I then had TablEdit convert it to ABC which I then plugged into the converter to get the resulting (mandolin tab+regular notation) PDF. I took one of my existing transcriptions and changed the “printing options” to 8 measures per line, APPLY’d it and saved it. I just did a little experimenting in TablEdit. NOTE: To return to 4 measures, you’ll need to create a highlight a space in the last measure (the 2nd repeat), and once again select “Edit > Insert > Line breaks…” and in the pop-up dialogue box set “Measures per line” back to “4”
In pop up dialogue box, set “Measures per line” at “5” Go to top dropdown menu and select “Edit > Insert > Line breaks…” To add a second ending, highlight a space in the last measure of the PREVIOUS line. Also, checking the box “Fixed width” results in nicer, easier-to-read tab in my opinion The second radio button should be “Number of measures per line” … set that to 4 (or whatever you want). For instance, in a reel I might want four measures in the first line but five in the second (to allow for two separate endings in the A part). I would like to better understand the right way to write an ABC and (neatly) tell it when to begin (and end) a line. In order to get it to look the way I want it to, I am currently (cheating) by using (!) in the ABCs to force it to start a new line where I want it to. It might stick one ending on the end of the second line and the second ending at the beginning of the third line. The problem is TablEdit doesn’t break a tune into nice lines where an equal number of measures appear and both endings (if it has two) are properly at the end of lines. I rely on a tablature program (TablEdit) to translate my tablatures I transcribe to ABC, which I then plug into this converter - to convert to a nice, neat PDF file.
